As more research is done, and we gain more knowledge, universal knowledge is updated. What was thought to be true in the past doesn’t always hold true in the present and the future. People of the past thought that the earth was flat and that you could fall off the edge. We now know that the earth is round and that that is not possible. Similarly, “healthy” foods of the past have been proven to be not-so-healthy afterall. Here are some of them:

Milk

Milk is baby food that is high in fat and meant for rapid growth. Just as humans only produce milk when we have offspring, so do cows. Off course farmed cows are injected to increase the milk yield and production period but the milk is essentially meant for the calf to grow into a massive full-grown cow. This makes milk excessive for a full-grown human adult whose nutritional needs should be more focused on maintaining healthy bodily function and not rapid growth.

A good alternative is almond milk.

Bread

Bread is a highly processed food made of wheat which is indeed healthy. While it is perhaps not altogether “bad”, the processing of food may cut out essential vitamins and minerals that science may not even have discovered yet, so why not get as close to nature as possible and focus on foods that are as unprocessed as possible such as fruit and vegetables?

Muesli Bars

Again, while muesli itself is unprocessed and natural which makes it healthy, few people appreciate it’s bland taste, so muesli bar companies flavour their muesli bars with sugar and artificial flavouring, thus diminishing the health benefits.

In conclusion, go for foods that are as unprocessed as possible such as fruit, vegetables, nuts and rolled oats. Do a Google search for ‘unprocessed foods’.
